Why Men Fear Feminine Energy

by | Sep 13, 2025 | 2. Aware, Changing perspective

I’ve always been fascinated by the human body — not just in the clinical sense, but in the way it reveals our hidden truths. I’m equally fascinated by women: by their beauty, their resilience, and by the raw power that has been silenced for generations.

For too long, men — myself included — have looked at women with a mixture of desire and fear. Masculine energy, when left unexamined, reduced women to servants, support systems, and silent companions. We praised their strength when it suited us, and we crushed their voices when it didn’t.

And this hasn’t always been fully conscious or intentional. Entire systems were built to keep women “in their place.” Witch hunts weren’t only about fire — they were about silencing intuition. Patriarchal structures weren’t only about order — they were about controlling what men feared. I’m not the oracle here; I’m exploring this as a man who’s watched how these patterns live in me, around me, and between us.

What I keep returning to is simple and uncomfortable: women may hold wisdom that runs deeper than we, as men, have been willing to admit.

Women May Be Wiser — And Here’s Why

I don’t say this to flatter. I say it because of what I’ve observed and lived.

Women are not necessarily “better,” but they may be wiser because they have carried wisdom through silence.
They sense what men often need to analyze.
They know what the mind can take years to figure out.
They can create human life out of nothing — something no philosophy, no book, no masculine intellect can match.

This is intuition at work. And while men glorified control, dominance, and knowledge, women learned to listen — to the body, to cycles, to life itself. That wisdom is not just personal. It’s survival. And maybe it’s precisely what our world is starving for.

Masculine Energy Is Not the Enemy — But It Is Out of Balance

A line from a training once hit me hard:

  • Masculine energy, when rigid and unchecked, becomes the energy of failure.
  • Feminine energy, when honored, becomes the energy of success.

Not because men are failures and women are saints — but because when the masculine dominates instead of balances, it collapses. And when the feminine is silenced, the flow of life stops.

We need both. In men. In women. In relationships. In society. Strength and fluidity. Drive and intuition. Protection and creation.
The question I keep asking myself is: What would my life look like if I trusted both?

What Women Really Want: A Learning That Surprised Me

During a training on menopause, I was the only man in the room. Even my wife was surprised I cared enough to study this. But for me, it mattered.

Someone asked: “What do women really want in relationship?”
The nearly unanimous answer: Freedom.

Not control. Not restriction. Not being told who to be.
Freedom to breathe. To grow. To be.

At first it surprised me. Then I realized it was already true in my own home.

My Own Marriage: Still Learning After 27 Years

I’ve been with my wife for 27 years, married for over 20. I’m not perfect. I’ve made mistakes, controlled, misunderstood. But what kept us alive wasn’t control — it was the freedom we slowly gave each other.

The more I worked on myself — facing inherited patterns and fears — the more space I could offer. And every time I did, our relationship grew stronger.

Not “freedom” as in chaos. Freedom as in trust — the space to be who we truly are.

Men: Stop Fearing What You Don’t Understand

This is where men must wake up.

We think we’ve given everything — money, safety, a house, stability. And then we wonder why she is restless, why she pulls away, why the relationship collapses.

The truth is harsh: we gave everything except her freedom.

Beneath that refusal sits a fear we rarely confess: fear of feminine energy, fear of women’s wisdom, fear of the unknown we can’t control.
And here’s the reality — that fear is destroying us more than it protects us.

Step one: embrace freedom and the feminine energy in all of us — in ourselves, in women, in the world. Not as an idea, but as a daily practice of trust, space, and listening.

Final Thought: From a Man Still Learning

I’m not an angel. I don’t have it all figured out. I make mistakes, I fall into old patterns, I get it wrong.

But every time, the direction is the same: freedom, balance, and honoring what I once feared or neglected — the feminine aspect of life that’s embedded in everything. As a medicine man — grounded in shamanism, Chinese Medicine, and my long relationship — I’ve learned enough to believe this is the way forward: men opening to feminine energy, not running from it or closing down into old roles and rigid systems.

Feminine energy — and women — represent more than we’ve allowed ourselves to admit.
And men? We only start to live when we stop fearing our own feminine side — and allow it to flourish in balance with the masculine part.
